Niagara Glen

If you are looking for a free, fun activity while in the Niagara Falls area, Niagara Glen is definitely somewhere that you should check out. Located approximately eight kilometers north of Niagara Falls on Niagara Parkway, this gorge has been designated a Natural Reserve beginning in 1992. Niagara Glen is a unique, beautiful, natural phenomenon that overlooks the Niagara River Whirlpool, which is another natural, unique phenomenon.

Niagara Glen was created by the continuous erosion of the Niagara River. Upon entering the stairway that leads to the gorge site, visitors walk paths that are approximately two to three miles.

Before entering the pathways to see the gorge, a few safety issues should be checked. First, upon hiking the pathways to see the gorge, elevation changes about 200 feet. This change may not seem like a big deal, but, to some people, this may be the difference in being able and not being able to breathe. Because of the steep terrain, proper footwear is required. It is suggested to guests that you take your time when hiking the gorge. Posted at the gorge is a sign that states, “Take only photos, leave only footprints”.
